POSITION: Head of Education

EduSpots is seeking a Head of Education to join our Ghana based team, working remotely from home in Accra with some travel. If you are a strong training facilitator who can model outstanding pedagogy, inspire volunteers and staff, and create systems to improve programme quality, this role offers the opportunity to oversee our Education Hub, line manage five programme coordinators and an EcoSTEM specialist, lead curriculum development, embed pedagogical principles, support the EduSpots App, and champion safeguarding.

Our vision is a world where communities unite to create the futures they want through education. Since 2016, we have supported 50 communities in creating community led education spaces. We have more than doubled our income, programme breadth, and reach in the last two years. As Head of Education, you will not simply manage programmes; you will organise and inspire our team of education specialists, create meaningful content, embed creativity, problem solving, and inclusion, and enable Catalysts to drive sustainable transformation.

Your Mission: Organise, Inspire, and Scale

You will oversee the day to day management of our Education Hub, line managing five programme coordinators and an EcoSTEM specialist who work with over 400 voluntary Catalysts. Your role includes providing detailed feedback and visionary leadership across educational delivery, holding oversight of curriculum development, embedding our ten pedagogical principles, supporting the development of the EduSpots App and WhatsApp for Learning, ensuring child protection and safeguarding, supporting monitoring and evaluation, leading professional development, and playing a key part in the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans programme management, curriculum leadership, digital tool development, safeguarding, monitoring and evaluation, staff development, and strategic partnerships. Here is what you will tackle:

Programme Management

• You will oversee the day to day management of our Education Hub, line managing five programme coordinators and an EcoSTEM specialist.
• Supporting over 400 voluntary Catalysts who lead community based clubs.

Curriculum Leadership

• You will provide detailed feedback and visionary leadership across all aspects of educational delivery.
• Then, Holding oversight of curriculum development across our learner clubs.

Pedagogical Principles

• You will lead on embedding our ten pedagogical principles including inclusive, collaborative, creative, playful, digital, community connected, learning for transformative action, youth leadership, subject mastery, and Keeping Spots Safe.

Digital Tool Development

• You will support the development of the EduSpots App, WhatsApp for Learning, Online Courses, and wider areas under EduSpots Unlocked.
• Also, Using digital tools to enhance learning outcomes.

Safeguarding

• You will ensure child protection and safeguarding, and inclusion sit at the heart of all educational planning.
• Overseeing the development of Keeping Spots Safe education.

Monitoring and Evaluation

• You will support monitoring and evaluation of our programmes, including programme report writing.
• Ensuring goals are met and learnings are constantly threaded back into the approach.

Staff Development

• You will lead the professional development and appraisal of education focused staff team members.
• Building capacity and improving performance outcomes.

Strategic Partnerships

• You will work with the CEO and Educational Partnerships Manager to develop meaningful partnerships within the education space.
• Supporting relationships with trusts, foundations, corporates, and donors.

What You Bring to the Role

Knowledge & Experience

• Significant experience in education resource design including curricula, student activities, and teacher or facilitator guides.
• Strong ability to use digital tools to enhance learning outcomes.
• Highly experienced in using and developing monitoring, evaluation, and learning to improve outcomes.
• At least five years of experience in education management, including line management of a team.
• Ability to create systems to improve programme quality at organisational and local levels.
• Strong training facilitation skills, modelling outstanding pedagogy and inspiring volunteers and staff.
• Experience in online educational delivery on Zoom, WhatsApp, and similar platforms.
• Experience working with volunteers to drive educational change.
• Experience of home based, online working.
• Strong IT knowledge and skills.
