POSITION: Junior Technical Advisor

GIZ Ghana is seeking a Junior Technical Advisor to support the implementation of activities under the Ghanaian European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development (GEC). If you have experience working with international organizations and donors, fluency in English and a Ghanaian language, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, this role offers the opportunity to provide technical, administrative, communication, and coordination support to the Head of Centre, Component Manager, and Advisory Team.

The Project

GIZ has received a commission from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to implement the project “Promoting sustainable migration, decent work and professional qualifications.” This project aims to enhance the employment prospects of young people in Ghana for both national and international labour markets. It supports demand oriented vocational training and labour market services while fostering regular labour migration. Through close cooperation with public and private partners, the project promotes decent work opportunities, strengthens institutional capacities, and facilitates recognition of professional qualifications.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for supporting the coordination and organization of team activities, including progress reporting and review processes. Your role includes ensuring team members stay informed of key deadlines, deliverables, and upcoming activities, assisting in planning and documentation of team meetings, maintaining project knowledge across GIZ platforms including MS Teams, DMS, and OneDrive, coordinating onboarding activities for new staff, supporting facility management and asset administration, contributing to capacity building for the Ministry of Labour and other partners, preparing reports and briefing notes, and providing operational support to the team.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans coordination, documentation, onboarding, administrative support, capacity building, and reporting. Here is what you will tackle:

Coordination

  • You will support the coordination and organization of team activities, including progress reporting and review processes.
  • Ensuring team members know key deadlines, deliverables, and upcoming activities.

Documentation

  • You will maintain and manage project knowledge and documentation across GIZ platforms including MS Teams, DMS, and OneDrive.
  • Assisting in planning, coordination, and documentation of team meetings.

Onboarding

  • You will coordinate onboarding activities and orientation sessions for new staff members.
  • Ensuring new team members integrate smoothly.

Administrative Support

  • You will support administrative processes related to facility management and project asset administration.
  • Providing operational support to the team as needed.

Capacity Building

  • You will contribute to capacity building activities for the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, the Labour Department, and other relevant partners.
  • Helping partners strengthen their migration and employment services.

Reporting

  • You will prepare, review, and compile reports, briefing notes, research summaries, and other project related documentation.
  • Undertaking additional tasks as assigned by the Team Leader.

What You Bring to the Role

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, health services, or any other project related field.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience in international development, project management, social work, public policies, or other project related fields.

Expertise

  • Expertise in migration issues in Ghana, particularly in Migration and Development, Reintegration, and Employment.
  • Experience working with and engaging international organizations and donors.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English, both oral and written.
  • Fluency in a Ghanaian language.
  • German language proficiency would be an asset.

Technical & Personal Skills

  • Excellent team working and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong capacity for effective teamwork, high degree of flexibility, and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel in and outside the country.
