POSITION: Business Development Manager

Pacific International Lines (PIL) is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth within PIL Logistics Ghana. If you have a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or logistics, a valid driver’s license, and high emotional intelligence with strong people management skills, this strategic role offers the opportunity to partner with the Managing Director, identify new business opportunities, expand market presence, and strengthen key customer relationships across the supply chain ecosystem.

As Business Development Manager, you will not simply sell; you will drive revenue growth by identifying and converting new logistics opportunities, build a high-quality sales pipeline, develop integrated end-to-end logistics solutions, provide strategic leadership across sales and operations, represent PIL Logistics at senior levels with key customers and authorities, and foster a strong, ethical, performance-driven culture.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans revenue growth, sales pipeline management, solution development, operational efficiency, strategic leadership, representation, and culture building. Here is what you will tackle:

• Revenue Growth: You will drive revenue growth by identifying, converting, and scaling new logistics and freight forwarding opportunities .
• Sales Pipeline: You will build and manage a high-quality sales pipeline, delivering long-term customer acquisition and retention .
• Solution Development: You will develop integrated, end-to-end logistics solutions and cross-sell offerings with PIL shipping services.
• Operational Efficiency: You will ensure efficient, compliant operations while optimising costs, margins, and overall service delivery.
• Strategic Leadership: You will provide strategic leadership across sales, operations, and support teams, setting clear direction while driving hands-on execution.
• Representation: You will represent PIL Logistics at senior levels with key customers, partners, and authorities.
• Culture Building: You will foster a strong, ethical, and performance-driven culture aligned with PIL values.

What You Must Have

Education & Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a related field. An MBA or professional qualification gives you an advantage.
• Up to 10 years of experience in logistics and freight forwarding, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience managing a logistics business in Ghana, including services, taxes, limitations, and exposure.
• A proven track record in customs processes.
• An extensive network of customers, vendors, logistics partners, and local authorities.
• A valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.

Skills & Personal Attributes

• High integrity with strong adherence to governance and compliance standards.
• Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable operating in complex and evolving environments.
• Highly self-motivated with a curious and inquisitive mindset.
• High emotional intelligence with strong people management skills.
• Strong knowledge of tax and VAT systems, plus strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Familiarity with import and export operations processes.
• Proven shipping experience and shipping industry knowledge in neighbouring countries.
• French language skills give you an advantage.
