Germany DAAD Double Degree Scholarships 2027

Germany continues expanding its international academic partnerships. The latest DAAD Integrated International Dual Degree Programs – Preparatory Phase 2027 funding call now supports German universities creating joint and double degree programs with international partners. For students planning future study in Germany, this initiative signals exciting new globally connected academic pathways.

What Makes This DAAD Initiative Different

Unlike traditional scholarship competitions for individuals, this DAAD scheme funds universities to build academic structures. These structures eventually create international study opportunities, cross border mobility, joint curricula, and dual qualifications recognized in multiple countries. The programme strengthens research cooperation and faculty exchange between German universities and their overseas partners.

The funding supports three key stages:

Preparatory Phase – Universities develop partnership frameworks, align curricula, and establish collaboration agreements
Main Funding Phase – Institutions implement joint degree programs with student mobility
Follow Up Funding – Long term support strengthens successful partnerships after eight years of initial funding

What Double Degree Programs Actually Mean

Under dual degree arrangements, students study at both partner institutions according to jointly designed curricula. Graduates receive either separate degrees from each university or a jointly awarded qualification.

A real world example shows the impact. The University of Göttingen offers a double degree program with Nanjing University Business School in China. Students complete four semesters across both institutions and earn a Master of Science from Göttingen and a Master of Management from Nanjing. The DAAD provides full scholarships for up to four students, with monthly stipends of €1,350 plus travel allowances.

Who Benefits From These Programs

The DAAD initiative supports entire academic communities involved in international dual degree education . Beneficiaries include:

Bachelor’s and Master’s students participating in future dual degree programs
Researchers engaged in academic collaboration and research exchange
Professors involved in teaching, supervision, and institutional cooperation

The programme aims for at least five German students and five international students enrolled annually in each double degree program during the funding phase.

DAAD funded dual degree programs are becoming one of the most attractive routes for students seeking internationally recognized qualifications across multiple education systems. For ambitious researchers and students, these developments open doors to global academic networks and enhanced career prospects.
