POSITION: College Principal

The Governing Council of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) College of Education, Cape Coast, invites applications from qualified and competent persons for the position of College Principal.

As Principal, you will serve as the academic and administrative head, chief disciplinarian, and chief executive officer of the college. You will be accountable to the Governing Council and responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring quality assurance and academic excellence, and managing the college’s overall financial and administrative affairs. Your leadership will directly influence the quality of teacher education in Ghana and align with the regulations of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and national laws .

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Provide strong, visionary leadership to advance the college’s mission and vision .
• Academic Oversight: Ensure quality assurance and academic excellence, fostering a culture of teaching and learning .
• Administrative Management: Oversee the college’s financial and administrative affairs, including resource mobilization, in line with the college’s statutes and national regulations .
• Stakeholder Engagement: Foster and promote good internal and external relations, projecting the image of the college effectively .
• Governance: Implement the decisions of the Academic Board and other national laws and regulations .

What You Bring to the Role

• Rank: Be of Professorial rank in any tertiary institution or organization and a distinguished scholar in Teacher Education (teaching and learning) .
• Qualification: Possess a PhD in a relevant area or an equivalent terminal degree .
• Experience: Have rich administrative experience at a senior management level, demonstrating a good understanding of the challenges facing colleges of education and tertiary education in Ghana .
• Leadership: Exhibit exemplary leadership skills, integrity, and the capacity to marshal resources needed to carry out the college’s mission and vision .
• Tenure: Be able to complete at least one term of 4 years before attaining the compulsory retirement age of 60 .
