The Manufacturing Engineer will work as part of a specialist technical team supporting aluminium and non-ferrous metals customers across production, process optimisation, and industrial improvement projects. The role involves solving complex manufacturing challenges, supporting production efficiency improvements, and contributing to engineering solutions across casting, extrusion, rolling, recycling, and finishing operations.

The position also includes customer-facing consultancy work, technical investigations, and participation in industrial development projects across the UK and internationally.

Job Duties

• Develop and deliver technical engineering solutions to customers in the aluminium and non-ferrous metals sector.
• Support investigations into manufacturing problems and recommend effective, data-driven solutions.
• Work with clients on continuous improvement programmes across production and process efficiency.
• Support investment and expansion projects from a technical and engineering perspective.
• Engage with external customers to develop project proposals and expand business opportunities.
• Contribute to applied research, process optimisation, and advanced manufacturing innovation initiatives.
• Travel to customer sites within the UK and internationally as required for project delivery and consultancy support.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of four years industrial experience in aluminium or non-ferrous metals manufacturing environments.
• Experience in production processes such as casting, extrusion, rolling, fabrication, or recycling operations.
• Strong analytical and root cause investigation skills with ability to develop practical engineering solutions.
• Experience working across multiple manufacturing sites or process environments.
• Strong technical reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and reporting using engineering tools and software.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in advanced manufacturing environments or consultancy-based engineering roles.
• Exposure to process modelling, simulation tools, or manufacturing optimisation software.
• Experience working in global industrial or multi-site engineering environments.
• Strong background in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
• Experience contributing to technical sales, proposals, or client engagement activities.
