POSITION: Medical Laboratory Scientist

A Role of Diagnostic Significance

The Medical Laboratory Scientist position represents far more than routine testing responsibilities. You will serve as a cornerstone of our diagnostic services, performing analytical tests that directly guide clinical decisions and patient outcomes. Your expertise in Hematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology will ensure rapid turnaround times and exceptional accuracy. Core Responsibilities

Your daily activities will encompass a comprehensive range of laboratory functions:

• Perform a wide range of analytical laboratory tests across multiple disciplines following established institutional SOPs
• Execute internal quality control protocols while participating actively in external quality assessment schemes
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation with swift troubleshooting capabilities
• Validate, interpret, and accurately log results into the hospital information management system
• Ensure rapid turnaround for critical values through efficient result reporting
• Adhere strictly to infection control, biosafety, and chemical safety guidelines during specimen collection and processing
• Partner effectively with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff for seamless patient care delivery

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Educational Foundation: Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized and accredited institution. This educational background should demonstrate comprehensive understanding of diagnostic principles and laboratory procedures.
• Professional Licensure: A valid and current professional license from the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) Ghana remains mandatory. This certification confirms your commitment to professional standards and ongoing competency development.
• Experience Requirements: We require a minimum of 2 to 3 years of post-internship working experience in a busy, modern medical laboratory environment. This experience should demonstrate proficiency across multiple diagnostic disciplines and familiarity with automated instrumentation.
• Technical Competencies: Strong proficiency in automated laboratory instrumentation proves essential for success. Additionally, competence in manual testing techniques and basic computer or Laboratory Information System proficiency remains fundamental. Your ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain operational efficiency will distinguish you as a top candidate.
