POSITION: Accounts Officer

Core Responsibilities

Your daily activities will encompass a comprehensive range of accounting and financial functions:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for all financial transactions
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports for management review
• Process and record all receipts, payments, journals, and other accounting transactions
• Prepare and reconcile bank statements and other balance sheet accounts regularly
• Monitor cash inflows and outflows while ensuring adequate liquidity maintenance
• Verify supporting documents and ensure proper authorization before processing payments
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions while following up on outstanding balances
• Assist in annual budget preparation and monitor budget performance consistently
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory and regulatory reports to Bank of Ghana
• Support internal and external audit exercises by providing accurate financial information
• Maintain proper filing systems for accounting records and financial documents
• Ensure strict adherence to internal control procedures and accounting policies
• Assist in payroll preparation and related statutory deductions where applicable
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and financial irregularities promptly
• Support branch operations by providing financial guidance and ensuring procedural compliance
• Prepare regular management reports and perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Educational Foundation: Candidates must hold a First Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Banking and Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field with at least two years of post-qualification relevant working experience. Alternatively, WASSCE holders with concentration in Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, or Mathematics require three years of post-qualification relevant experience.
• Professional Certification: Professional certification, whether partial or full qualification, in ACCA, ICA, CIMA, or CA Ghana provides a distinct advantage. Experience in the microfinance industry similarly strengthens your application.

Core Competencies Required:

• Proven work experience as Accounts Officer, Accountant, Finance Officer, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
• Strong numeracy and data analysis skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgement
• Knowledge of Bank of Ghana regulatory requirements provides added advantage
• Strong interpersonal and customer service orientation
