POSITION: Field Engineering Program – Generator Specialist

We currently seek engaged and driven individuals with a passion for engineering to join our Field Engineering Program (FEP) as Generator Specialists. This entry-level position offers a unique pathway into the energy industry, where you will develop deep technical expertise while helping communities access reliable power.

A Launchpad for Engineering Excellence

The Generator Specialist FEP position represents far more than a typical entry-level role. You will enroll in FieldCore’s comprehensive Field Engineering Program, participating in in-person and online training curricula, on-the-job learning experiences, and mentorship from experienced Technical Field Advisors. Upon successful program graduation, you will qualify for a Technical Field Advisor position specializing in generators. Consequently, we seek individuals who combine technical aptitude with genuine curiosity and willingness to travel extensively.

Program Structure and Development

Your development journey will encompass multiple learning dimensions:

  • Participate in structured in-person and online training curriculum
  • Gain hands-on experience through on-the-job training assignments
  • Learn directly from experienced Technical Field Advisors
  • Develop lean thinking and leadership capabilities
  • Build technical expertise in power generation equipment
  • Travel to diverse locations while helping provide power to communities

Core Responsibilities

Upon completing the program, you will take responsibility for these critical functions:

  • Maintain strong safety mindset ensuring all executed work reflects GE safety standards
  • Travel extensively to projects and various field assignments
  • Work holidays, weekends, and overtime as field assignments require
  • Manage inspection and testing of generator field and stator using advanced technologies
  • Direct and manage repair procedures utilizing latest electronic documentation technologies
  • Recognize, predict, and document potential generator failures accurately
  • Present generator quality issues to customers with precision and detail
  • Participate as Service Team member dedicated to safety metrics
  • Execute pre-outage planning while recommending policies and procedures
  • Lead execution of generator field and stator rewinds, general repairs, and inspections
  • Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues

Required Qualifications

Educational Foundation:

  • Candidates must hold a technical or university degree or qualifying experience.
  • Alternatively, a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a Field Services role will be considered .
  • An engineering degree or equivalent remains the preferred qualification .

Professional Experience:

  • We require a minimum of 3 years of experience in a field services or power generation equipment maintenance position.
  • Strong technical competence in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical flow and instrument diagrams remains essential.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong ownership and work ethic will distinguish successful candidates.
  • A desire to learn and problem solve drives program success.
  • Positive can-do attitude with ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers proves fundamental.
  • Experience and training on Alstom, Siemens, or other OEM equipment provides a distinct advantage.
