NO MORE LIMITS
Scripture Reading: Zechariah 4:1-10
Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’_ Zechariah 4:7
The Lord called Zerubbabel to lead the rebuilding of the city of Jerusalem and its Temple. The whole city was in ruins and the Temple torn to the ground. This was a very daunting task for Zerubbabel and the Jews who had returned from a seventy-year captivity. The Lord described the task as a mountain.
The mountain signified anything that hindered the rebuilding of the Temple, such as active opposition to the building project, or the people's lack of drive to see the task to its completion.
Zerubbabel had his mountain; we also have our mountains to overcome. It is any system or structure that stands between you and God's assignment. It could be relational, financial, physical or spiritual.
God's word indicated how the mountain had to be dealt with:
• Confront the mountain.
The interesting thing about this passage is that Zerubbabel had to speak to the mountain. When you have a mountain (an insurmountable challenge) standing before you, the natural response is to declare what is before you, which is the mountain; but Zerubbabel had to declare to the mountain, ‘You shall become a plain!’
- Declare God's grace.
The Lord also said that Zerubbabel ‘shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’ The capstone is the final stone on the project. When it is placed on a building it signifies the end of a project. The placing of the capstone is always accompanied with the joyful cry of the people.
God assured Zerubbabel that His grace would complete the assignment. That same God also assures us that we will also place the capstone on the project He has given us. The grace of God will give us the victory over every mountain that stands in our way.
The Lord who begins with us will also complete with us.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank you that the mountains are becoming a plain. Your grace is my victory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
