CAN YOU SEE IT?
SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 13:8-18
Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever._ Genesis 13:14-15
If you can see it, you can work towards it. If you can work towards it, you can possess it. That is the lesson that God wanted Abraham to learn. God performs His word for us based on what we see and how we see it. Our perception eventually becomes our reality.
If you cannot see it with your mind, you cannot receive it from God.
- Lift your eyes.
To lift your eyes, you must stop looking down. We look down when we feel discouraged or abandoned. The Lord told Abraham to lift his eyes after Lot had departed from him. Lot lifted his eyes and saw the lush lands of Sodom and turned his heart towards it. He was a man of the flesh who walked by sight and not by faith.
Abraham might have felt downcast and let down. But that was not how God wanted Abraham to respond to Lot's departure. The Lord wanted Abraham to look up and be hopeful about his future. That is how we should also face life. We must look up even when circumstances are pressing us down.
- Look where you are.
The Lord asked Abraham to use where he was located as his starting point. It was his starting point but not his end point. All of us see life from where we are, but we must learn to look beyond where we are to where God wants us to be. Our spiritual and physical perceptions are normally opposed to each other.
What we see in the spirit is not always the same as what we see physically. That is why we must not allow our physical sight to shut out our spiritual sight.
God wants us to see beyond our physical senses. He wants us to see our imagination with our inner eye. Don't limit your vision to what is before you. Expand your vision to include what the Lord is showing to you from within. That inner vision is far more potent than anything you see around you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, today I lift my eyes above every limitation. I see the fullness of Your blessings in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
