Job Summary
As a Finance Specialist, you will take ownership of technical accounting compliance, financial controls, process simplification, and operational excellence. You will deliver accurate financial reporting and analysis while mastering approaches, theories, and methodologies within our organizational context. This position demands a thorough understanding of financial operations and the ability to apply that knowledge strategically.
Key Responsibilities
In this pivotal role, you will:
- Manage Regional Financial Operations: You will oversee general accounting and policy application across West Africa, handling all cycles including inventory, revenue recognition, receivables, payables, and intercompany transactions.
- Interpret Enterprise Standards: You will understand and apply Enterprise Standards, Standard Operating Procedures, and Process Maps to deliver globally competitive financial processes and accounting services.
- Advise Functional Leaders: You will provide expert guidance to functional managers and other departments regarding approaches, processes, and procedures within your specialized field.
- Communicate Complex Solutions: You will handle communication with direct colleagues and business partners about methodologies for solving complex financial problems.
- Lead Strategic Projects: You will lead medium sized projects or contribute significantly to larger initiatives. Work goals typically span 3 to 6 months, with results impacting the organization over 2 to 12 month horizons.
- Drive Controllership Initiatives: You will take overall ownership of controllership metrics and initiatives across the region, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.Ensure Compliance Excellence: You will guarantee that all finance activities and documentation comply with local statutory requirements, Baker Hughes policies, and business practices.
- Implement New Standards: You will collaborate with Corporate functions and the finance team to adopt new accounting standards and drive controllership initiatives forward.
- Maintain US GAAP Compliance: You will ensure strict adherence to both local statutory and US GAAP policies.
- Strengthen Internal Controls: You will maintain and enhance internal control frameworks, working closely with the broader team to address any Internal Controls or SOX deficiencies promptly.
Qualifications and Experience
We seek candidates who combine academic excellence with substantial experience. Therefore, you must possess:
- A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Business from a recognized institution.A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated experience in a Finance Controllership role, showcasing your ability to manage complex financial operations.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to build collaborative relationships with teams, customers, and stakeholders.
- Proven experience leading teams or working collaboratively to deliver successful projects and initiatives.
- The ability to multitask effectively and balance competing priorities in an ever changing, fast moving, time sensitive environment.
- A team player mentality, enjoying collaboration and problem solving with others.
- Proficiency using enterprise software such as SAP and Oracle.
