Job Title: Relationship Manager 

First National Bank invites ambitious professionals to apply for the position of Relationship Manager. We are looking for a results driven individual who thrives in a fast paced banking environment.

Job Summary

As our Relationship Manager, you will drive the acquisition, origination, structuring, execution, and growth of Structured Trade & Commodity Finance (STCF) solutions. You will identify client opportunities, assess risks, and structure bankable transactions that align with our risk appetite. Moreover, you will manage client relationships throughout the entire deal lifecycle. Your primary focus will be to achieve revenue, asset growth, and portfolio quality objectives while ensuring strict compliance with credit, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Business Development: You will identify and acquire new STCF clients across targeted industry sectors. You will develop and execute a proactive sales and origination strategy to generate quality deal flow.
• Networking: You will build referral networks with Relationship Managers, Commercial Banking, Islamic Banking, Corporate Banking, and other FirstRand divisions. This collaboration will expand our reach and client base.
• Client Retention: You will retain and expand existing client relationships through cross selling and value added solutions. You will meet agreed revenue, asset, profitability, and pipeline targets.
• Deal Structuring: You will analyze commercial transactions and identify funding opportunities.
• Risk Mitigation: You will design risk mitigation structures aligned to the underlying transaction. You will determine collateral, cash flow controls, and security requirements.
• Credit Analysis: You will perform detailed financial statement analysis and evaluate business performance, leverage, liquidity, and cash generation.
• Transaction Modeling: You will complete transaction cash flow modeling and stress testing. You will prepare credit applications and investment motivations for presentation to credit committees.
• Risk Assessment: You will ensure all transactions comply with STCF Credit Policy and regulatory requirements.
• Deal Execution: You will coordinate deal implementation with Credit, Legal, Operations, and Risk teams. You will drive transactions through approval and fulfilment processes while managing stakeholder alignment for timely payout.
• Portfolio Management: You will monitor portfolio performance and profitability. You will conduct periodic client reviews and manage renewals and facility increases. You will identify early warning signs and ensure annual reviews and covenant monitoring are completed.
• Pricing: You will structure transactions that achieve target returns and negotiate pricing, fees, and ancillary income opportunities. You will ensure risk adjusted returns are achieved.

Qualifications and Experience

• You must possess a BCom in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or an equivalent qualification.
• A relevant banking or credit qualification is also required.
• A CFA, CIMA, or postgraduate finance qualification will be a significant advantage.
• Trade Finance or Working Capital certification is highly desirable.
• You must have between 5 to 10 years of experience in Structured Finance, Corporate or Commercial Banking, Trade Finance, Credit Origination, or Working Capital Solutions.
• We require a proven track record in originating and executing complex transactions.
• Your experience will demonstrate your ability to navigate the intricacies of trade finance.
