Job Title: Field Engineer

Job Summary

This role serves as an entry level position within our Field Engineering Program (FEP). We will enroll you in this program to develop your in depth technical expertise, lean thinking, and leadership skills. You will undergo a unique curriculum that includes in person and online training, on the job trainings, and learning from experienced Technical Field Advisors. Moreover, You will gain experience and grow your career while traveling and helping provide power to communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Site Management: You will manage, perform, and coordinate the management of site activities.
Installation and Maintenance: You will perform on site installation of systems and equipment. You will also conduct ongoing preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration after installation.
Emergency Response: You will respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment.
Technical Instruction: You will provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance.
Administrative Functions: You will write technical reports, order materials, secure quotations, and prepare job status reports. You will also manage time sheets and expense sheets on a timely and thorough basis.
Quality Assurance: You will sign off on all changes implemented and drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality.
Safety Mindset: You will maintain a strong safety mindset to assure that the executed work reflects technical requirements within GE safety standards.
Troubleshooting: You will troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for a wide range of equipment vintage.
Coaching: You will coach, mentor, and train other team members to impart and perpetuate field engineering and product knowledge.
Reporting: You will prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and future outage references.
Logistics: You will ensure all parts needed for the job are shipped to the site.
Supervision: You will perform walk downs during installation to ensure that the customer’s contractors are working properly.
Upgrades: You will perform aftermarket upgrades at the site level.
Flexibility: You must demonstrate the ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required by field assignments. Extensive travel to projects and field assignments is mandatory.

Qualifications and Experience

You must possess a Technical or University degree or qualifying experience.
A High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a Field Services role will be considered.
You need 3 or more years of experience in a field services or power generation equipment maintenance position.
Strong technical competence in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical flow and instrument diagrams is essential.
Also, you must also have experience with dial and laser alignment and thermal growth equipment.
