POSITION: Executive Director

The Opportunity Awaits You
We currently seek an exceptional Executive Director to lead the GHCT team. This position places you at the helm of a world class conservation portfolio, where you will execute strategic plans, mobilise resources, engage stakeholders, and ensure the Trust achieves its ambitious goals. Your leadership will directly influence the preservation of Ghana’s heritage and its contribution to national development and identity.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Execute the Strategic Plan with precision, ensuring all activities align with GHCT’s long term vision and objectives.
- Develop and implement resource mobilisation and fundraising strategies aggressively to expand the Trust’s assets and program delivery capacity.
- Prepare and implement the annual budget and work plan meticulously, ensuring financial sustainability and operational efficiency.
- Execute programmes, grants, and distributions mandated by the Trust Deed, aligning every initiative with GHCT’s key objectives.
- Achieve year on year Key Performance Indicators agreed with the Governing Board and key stakeholders, demonstrating measurable impact.
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders adequately, building strategic partnerships that amplify GHCT’s reach and influence.
- Provide visionary leadership to the GHCT team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
- Represent GHCT at national and international forums, articulating the Trust’s mission and advocating for heritage conservation.
- Oversee the development of conservation programmes that address emerging challenges and opportunities in heritage management.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in all Trust operations.
Qualification and Experience Required
To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of academic qualifications, professional experience, and personal attributes. Specifically, we require:
- Educational Qualification: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Finance and Administration, Development Studies, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: At least 5 years of post qualification working experience in a senior management role, demonstrating proven leadership capabilities.
- Results Orientation: Demonstrated ability to achieve measurable outcomes and drive organisational success.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to engage diverse stakeholders, build consensus, and foster collaborative relationships.
- Resource Mobilisation: Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and resource development for non profit organisations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for engaging donors, partners, government agencies, and the public.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong capacity to negotiate agreements, partnerships, and funding arrangements effectively.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to envision long term goals and develop actionable plans to achieve them.
- Financial Acumen: Sound understanding of budget preparation, financial management, and accountability.
- Passion for Heritage: Genuine commitment to heritage conservation and sustainable development.

Duty Station
This position is based at our office in Accra. Candidates must be willing to work in Accra and travel as required for stakeholder engagement and programme implementation.
