Job Overview
We currently seek a dynamic and accomplished Director for DAPQA. This position places you at the heart of academic planning and quality assurance, where you will coordinate programme development, monitor academic standards, and spearhead a university wide quality assurance system. Your leadership will directly influence the academic integrity and reputation of the University of Cape Coast.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning and monitoring of academic programmes comprehensively, ensuring alignment with the university’s strategic goals and national priorities.
- Spearhead the university wide quality assurance system, encompassing all sections and mechanisms designed to maintain and enhance high performance standards.
- Report directly to the Vice Chancellor, providing strategic advice and regular updates on academic planning and quality assurance matters.
- Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures that promote continuous improvement and accountability.
- Lead the design and review of academic programmes, ensuring they meet national and international standards of excellence.
- Facilitate internal and external programme evaluations, driving evidence based enhancements to teaching, learning, and research.
- Foster a culture of quality consciousness among faculty, staff, and students, encouraging ownership of academic standards.
- Represent the university on national and international quality assurance bodies, contributing to policy development and benchmarking.
- Collaborate with other directorates and academic departments to integrate quality assurance principles into all university activities.
- Prepare and present reports on academic planning and quality assurance to the University Council, Academic Board, and other relevant bodies.
Qualification and Experience
To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of academic distinction, leadership experience, and professional attributes. Specifically, we require:
- Academic Rank: Internationally acclaimed scholar of professorial rank, demonstrating outstanding contributions to your discipline.
- Educational Qualification: PhD in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution.
- Teaching Experience: Considerable experience in university teaching, demonstrating pedagogical excellence and curriculum development expertise.
- Research Experience: Proven track record of research output, including publications in reputable journals and contributions to knowledge advancement.
- Administrative Experience: Significant administrative experience in a university or analogous institution, demonstrating leadership and strategic management capabilities.
- Quality Management Knowledge: Well grounded in the principles of total quality management, with practical experience implementing quality assurance systems.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to articulate a clear vision for academic planning and quality assurance that aligns with the university’s mission.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Collaborative Leadership: Capacity to work effectively with faculty, staff, and external partners to achieve shared goals.
