Job Overview

We currently seek a Chainsaw Operator to join our harvesting team at our Berekum site in the Bono Region. This full time position places you at the heart of our forestry operations, where you will fell trees in thinning and clear fell operations using expert knowledge of tree characteristics and cutting techniques. Your expertise will ensure we control the direction of fall precisely, minimising damage to both felled and standing trees.

Responsibilities

• Fell, debranch, top, and cross cut marked trees and those assigned by management, following prescribed specifications and standards.
• Ensure all quality and safety standards are adhered to as prescribed by management and supervisors, maintaining the highest levels of workmanship.
• Inspect the chainsaw and all its safety features thoroughly before each use, ensuring they remain in good working order.
• Maintain and repair chainsaws and other equipment safely according to standard operating procedures, prolonging tool life and ensuring reliability.
• Report unsafe acts and conditions immediately to the Felling Supervisor or Harvesting Supervisor, contributing to a culture of zero harm.
• Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times when performing duties, ensuring it remains fit for purpose and in good condition.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve harvesting targets efficiently and safely.
• Follow instructions from supervisors diligently, contributing to smooth and coordinated operations.

Qualifications and Experience Required

To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of skills, experience, and personal attributes. Specifically, we require:

• Educational Qualification: Minimum of a Junior High School (JHS) certificate.
• Physical and Mental Fitness: Capacity to perform demanding physical tasks and maintain focus throughout the workday.
• Dependability: Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and commitment to attendance.
• Ability to Follow Instructions: Capacity to understand and execute directions from supervisors accurately.
• Positive Attitude: Enthusiasm for the work and a willingness to contribute to team success.
• Communication Skills: Good communication and interpersonal abilities for coordinating with team members and supervisors.
• Documentation: Must possess a valid NHIS card and SSNIT number.
