POSITION: Program Officer

Job Summary
We currently seek a Program Officer to join the STRIDES Ghana team. This position places you at the heart of project implementation, where you will provide administrative assistance and program management functions to ensure project activities stay on schedule and within budget. Your work will directly support Ghana’s efforts to strengthen infectious disease detection systems and enhance public health preparedness.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the STRIDES project management team to assist in ensuring project needs and requirements are met effectively.
- Provide support to project management including planning and arranging meetings, conference room setup, supporting travel requests, and taking on sub task assignments.
- Collect existing information including metrics and data for use in reports, reaching out to subcontractors and partners for external information.
- Maintain distribution lists for project reports and facilitate communication by answering partner inquiries.
- Ensure internal project websites remain current and coordinate assigned project activities to achieve project goals.
- Assist in managing the project calendar to ensure all deadlines are achieved and deliverables are submitted on time.
- Set up and maintain electronic and physical project files for easy access and reference.
- Send reminders to keep the team on track with reporting deadlines and technical deliverables.
- Provide administrative support as needed by writing and reviewing reports on a quarterly basis.
- Support the project team administratively to provide high quality deliverables to the donor.
- Fulfill other administrative and special project duties as assigned.
- Assist with coordination and tracking of performance against Financial Cost Objective (FCO) ID, project timelines, budgets, objectives, and deliverables.
- Collect, compile, and analyze cost information relevant to the STRIDES project.
- Serve as the project liaison to internal units such as finance, contracts, and centers.
Qualification and Experience Required
To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of academic qualifications, professional experience, and personal attributes. Specifically, we require:
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in Civil Society, Communication and Law, Economic Development, Education, Health, Research, Technology, Youth, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience supporting projects and or a technical practice area.
- Organisational Experience: Prior work experience in a non governmental organisation, government agency, or private organisation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Knowledge: Basic knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to project design.
- Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Ability to solve problems and recommend corrective action as needed.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to adhere to project deadlines.
- Professionalism: Articulate and professional, able to communicate clearly and positively with clients and staff.
- Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
