POSITION: Loan Officer

Job Summary

We currently seek a Loan Officer to join our team. This position places you at the heart of our operations, where you will oversee group formation, manage loan disbursement, collect repayments, and reduce overdue loans. Your work will directly influence our ability to serve clients effectively and maintain financial sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Form and manage groups effectively, overseeing 3 to 4 groups per day, 5 days a week.
• Collect weekly cash collaterals and installments from group members, ensuring timely payments.
• Collect weekly security deposits from organised groups, maintaining financial discipline.
• Prepare a half yearly plan for loan disbursement to group members, ensuring efficient allocation of funds.
• Disburse loans following the set rules and regulations of the company, maintaining compliance and fairness.
• Collect installment payments from loan disbursements on a weekly basis, monitoring repayment performance.
• Complete loan application forms before loan disbursement, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Maintain daily realizable and realized information sheets, tracking loan performance and client status.
• Develop techniques to collect all default loans or late payments, reducing overdue loans and improving portfolio quality.
• Build strong relationships with clients, providing financial education and support to enhance repayment capacity.

Qualification and Experience

To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of academic qualifications, practical experience, and personal attributes. Specifically, we require:

• Educational Qualification: Minimum of HND or Degree from a recognised institution.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in microfinance, banking, or a related field.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for engaging with clients and stakeholders.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build relationships and work with diverse groups.
• Organisational Skills: Capacity to manage multiple groups, schedules, and tasks effectively.
• Numeracy: Basic numerical skills for processing payments and managing loan records.
• Integrity: High level of honesty and professionalism in handling financial transactions.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify and address repayment challenges proactively.
• Community Focus: Genuine commitment to community development and financial inclusion.
