The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) invites young graduates from member states to apply for the 2027 Young Graduates Professional Immersion Programme. This fully paid 12-month placement offers hands-on experience within ECOWAS institutions, agencies, and resident representations across the region.

What the Programme Offers

Selected participants gain professional experience while contributing to regional integration initiatives. The programme provides:

Monthly stipend for the full 12-month duration
Round-trip airfare for placements outside your home country

Professional mentorship and structured supervision
Multicultural work environment experience
Networking opportunities with regional development professionals
Practical exposure to policy, administration, and project management

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a national of an ECOWAS member state (Benin, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, or Togo)
Be between 18 and 32 years of age at the time of application
Hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate, or equivalent degree
Be proficient in English, French, or Portuguese
Be available full-time for the 12-month programme duration

Programme Structure

The immersion runs for one year (maximum 12 months), non-renewable, beginning in January 2027. Participants work within ECOWAS departments, specialised agencies, or resident representations. Each participant receives a supervisor who monitors their work throughout the programme.

Submit your application through the official ECOWAS portal. Select a maximum of two positions matching your qualifications and interests. A selection committee reviews applications, and only successful candidates receive further contact.
