Program Structure

Eight academic units will each host one incoming fellow. These include Art, English, German, and Slavic Studies. Philosophy, Romance Languages, and Theology are also represented. Each unit pairs fellows with a dedicated primary faculty mentor. Co-mentors may also join at the hosting unit’s discretion. Progress reviews occur every six months throughout the fellowship term.

Financial Benefits

Who Can Apply

Applicants must complete a doctoral degree by June 2027. Degrees completed since June 2024 also qualify for consideration. Scholars from any nationality are welcome to apply. Both employed and unemployed candidates may submit applications freely. However, current Notre Dame doctoral students and postdocs cannot apply.

Required Materials

Applicants must submit a cover letter, capped at four pages. A current curriculum vitae must accompany every application submitted. A five-page research statement should outline proposed fellowship work. Candidates also need a writing sample under 10,000 words. Finally, three recommendation letters must arrive through Interfolio directly.
