Job Summary
We currently seek a dedicated Account Assistant to join our finance team. This position places you at the heart of our accounting operations, where you will process vouchers, prepare reconciliations, assist in budget preparation, and support financial reporting. Your work will directly influence our ability to maintain accurate records, manage cash controls, and make informed financial decisions.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate accounting records and controls, including processing of vouchers and maintaining proper documentation.
- Write cheques and pass requisite entries accurately, supporting smooth payment processes.
- Prepare reconciliation statements for all customer and payable accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Follow up on any outstanding issues relating to reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, contributing to financial planning and resource allocation.
- Support the collation and analysis of both revenue and expenditure returns and financial reports.
- Provide feedback to the Head of Finance for reporting to ensure effective cash controls and decision making.
- Make appropriate suggestions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your work processes.
Qualification and
To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of academic qualifications, professional certifications, and practical experience. Specifically, we require:
- Educational Qualification: A Degree and/or Masters in Accounting from a recognised institution.
- Professional Certification: Qualifying Certificate such as ACCA or ICA.
- Experience: Five years of post qualification experience in an accounting function.
- Industry Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable in the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Reconciliation Skills: Strong ability to prepare and follow up on reconciliations.
- Analytical Skills: Capacity to analyse financial data and support decision making.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to financial record keeping and accuracy.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Integrity: High level of honesty and professionalism in handling financial information.
