Siegel Public Interest Technology Summer Fellowship 2027

Princeton’s Center for Information Technology Policy is accepting fellowship applications. This program targets rising junior and senior undergraduate students nationwide. About the Program

Fellows begin with a virtual policy bootcamp before starting their internships. This bootcamp is led directly by experienced CITP faculty members. Afterward, fellows work full-time at their assigned agency or nonprofit. Throughout the summer, weekly virtual seminars feature guest speakers and mentorship. A faculty mentor supports the entire fellow cohort during this period. The program concludes with a mandatory symposium at Princeton University itself.

What Fellows Will Do

Fellows work on genuinely cutting-edge public interest technology challenges directly. Past placements have included the FTC and various state attorney general offices. This creates authentic, real-world exposure to policy work in action. The concluding symposium helps fellows connect and build lasting professional relationships. Princeton covers accommodation and meals during this three-day closing event.

Who Can Apply

This program welcomes students from any accredited U.S. university broadly. Applicants should be rising juniors or seniors with strong communication skills. A genuine interest in technology policy matters more than specific coursework. International students may apply, though opportunities remain limited by citizenship rules. Many government placements specifically require U.S. citizenship for participation.

Practical Considerations

Students fund their own travel to the Princeton symposium from their stipend. However, Princeton covers hotel accommodations during the symposium itself directly. Notably, students cannot receive this stipend if they secure independent paid internships. Fellows also cannot pursue other internships, since this is full-time work.
