Job Summary

We currently seek dynamic individuals to join our team as Phlebotomists. This position places you at the heart of our diagnostic operations, where you will identify patients, collect blood specimens, prepare samples for transportation, and maintain accurate records. Your work will directly influence the quality of diagnostic results and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients and verify their personal information by reviewing their identity documents, ensuring accurate specimen collection.
• Prepare specimens for transportation by labeling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients with precision.
• Maintain detailed records of patient names, volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings, ensuring data integrity.
• Collect blood specimens using appropriate techniques, minimising patient discomfort and ensuring sample quality.
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure seamless specimen processing and timely diagnostic reporting.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear instructions and reassurance during the phlebotomy procedure.
• Adhere to medical laws and ethics, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of academic qualifications, practical experience, and personal attributes. Specifically, we require:

• Educational Qualification: HND or BSc in any Medical Program.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of similar work experience in a medical facility or equivalent.
• Certification: Phlebotomist certification, if available, is an added advantage.
• Knowledge: Understanding of ISO 15189:2022 standards and medical laws and ethics.
• Technical Skills: Excellent dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise specimen collection.
• Personal Qualities: Detail oriented with strong organisational skills.
• Communication: Good interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with patients and colleagues.
