FASPE Fellowship 2027 in Journalism | Call for Applications

Applications are open for the FASPE Journalism Fellowship 2027 cohort. This intensive two-week program explores professional ethics and leadership. Fellows examine historical journalism failures during the Nazi era specifically. FASPE uses these lessons to illuminate contemporary journalistic ethical challenges.

Between thirteen and sixteen journalism fellows join this program annually. The fellowship remains fully funded, removing financial barriers to participation.

About the Fellowship

FASPE isn’t a Holocaust studies course or genocide prevention program specifically. Instead, it challenges fellows to critically examine ethical constructs in their professions. Journalism fellows study how journalists covered or misreported Nazi-era policies. This historical lens helps fellows understand their own contemporary ethical responsibilities.

Fellows visit significant historical sites while attending daily expert-led seminars. Journalism fellows also travel alongside medical and clergy fellows throughout the program. This creates valuable interdisciplinary exchange around professional ethics broadly.

Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants generally fall into three categories. This includes graduate students with prior journalism experience specifically. Working journalists with either undergraduate or graduate degrees also qualify. FASPE particularly welcomes published or broadcast journalistic work from applicants. Professional experience should generally not exceed ten years total.

Required Materials

Applicants submit a resume detailing education and professional history. Transcripts from all significant higher education institutions are required too. Applicants also answer program-specific short essay questions during submission. Two recommendation letters from faculty or professional supervisors must arrive separately.
