Requirements for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Scholarship 2027

1. Doctoral Programme Status

Applicants should have already:

• Been accepted into a full-time doctoral programme
• Be in the first or second year of a full-time PhD programme.

It is also expected that the applicants will finish their PhD studies by the deadline of the scholarship competition.

2. Relevant area of study

The applicant’s PhD subject of study must relate to:

The doctoral dissertation must be related to at least one of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation’s four themes:

4. Nationality and Place of Study

The fellowship is offered to several categories of PhD researchers, namely:

1. Canadian students in Canadian or international institutions
2. Foreign individuals studying at Canadian or foreign colleges if permitted under the scholarship rules
3. Permanent residents of Canada who are enrolled in PhD programmes are eligible.
4. Eligible non-Canadian citizens enrolled in doctoral programmes at Canadian institutions
