About the Fellowship

Radcliffe brings together an unusually diverse annual cohort of thinkers. Fellows work alongside scientists, artists, and writers they wouldn’t normally meet. Each fellow gets dedicated office or studio space at Radcliffe Yard. A visiting fellow appointment unlocks broad access to Harvard’s resources.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows receive a $78,000 stipend across the fellowship year. A separate $5,000 covers direct project-related expenses. Relocation, housing, childcare, and healthcare options are all included. Fellows can also hire research partners, with wages covered.

Who Can Apply

Applicants of any nationality with accomplished independent work may apply. Current doctoral or master’s students generally aren’t eligible to apply. A strong record of publication, exhibition, or performance is expected. Fellows work across humanities, arts, sciences, and social sciences alike.

Required Materials

Applicants submit a CV, project proposal, and writing or work sample. A bibliography should accompany the full project proposal. Letters of recommendation complete the required application package.
