POSITION: Geologist 

Gold Fields Ghana invites applications from skilled Geologists to join our Technical Service Department in a pivotal role that directly influences ore extraction efficiency. This position reports to the Senior Geologist for Technical Service and offers an outstanding opportunity to contribute to one of Ghana’s premier mining operations. You will oversee in pit grade control, selective mining practices, RC logging and sampling, and Mine to Mill reconciliation processes.

Job Summary

This role sits at the heart of our operational excellence, ensuring optimal ore extraction while minimising waste and maximising value. Consequently, you will serve as a critical link between geological data and mining execution. Furthermore, your expertise will directly influence production targets, cost efficiency, and resource optimisation across our operations.

Core Responsibilities

Ore Delineation and Grade Control:

• Ensure effective and efficient ore mark up or ore delineation in operational pits
• Supervise selective mining activities to minimise dilution and ore loss
• Conduct in pit geological mapping for grade control model updates
• Follow Gold Fields geological modelling protocols rigorously

Reconciliation and Reporting:

• Ensure efficient daily tonnage and grade reconciliation between mined, crushed, and plant feed
• Maintain effective communication with sectional supervisors
• Deliver accurate and timeous mined to mill reconciliation data
• Support continuous improvement in reconciliation processes

Key Requirements

Educational Background:

• Minimum tertiary qualification in Geological Engineering, Mineral Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised institution

Experience Criteria:

• At least three years of relevant working experience in a mineral or geological engineering environment
• Practical knowledge of Paleo placer style ore deposits
• Demonstrated understanding of applicable standards, methods, and procedures

Licensing:

• Valid Ghanaian driving licence

• Strong ability to identify, assess, and mitigate geological and geotechnical risks
• Proficiency in geological modelling and grade control processes
• Sound understanding of ore body characteristics and extraction methodologies
