Study in Korea: Global Korea Undergraduate Scholarship (GKS) 2027 (Fully Funded)

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) 2027 for bachelor’s students is a scholarship programme offered by the Government of Korea, providing full financial support to international students to complete their bachelor’s or associate degree programme in Korea.

About GKS Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)

The GKS programme is funded by the Korean Government and is administered by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) to promote international educational exchange, develop Korea’s friendship with the participating countries, and attract talented international students to Korean higher education institutions.

The NIIED has officially announced the GKS-U application guidelines, application forms, and lists of participating universities and departments for the 2027 intake. Applicants should apply either through the Embassy Track or the University Track based on their eligibility and their preference.

Successful students will receive economic benefits, including flights, tuition support, Korean language training, living allowances, and other help.

Global Korea Undergraduates Scholarship Requirements

1. Citizenship Requirement

• Applicants and their parents must be nationals of a country that is listed as eligible for the applicable GKS programme.
• Applicants who are of Korean nationality are not eligible for the regular international GKS programme.

2. Academic Requirements

• For the undergraduate programme, applicants should have completed or intend to graduate from the relevant preceding level of study.
• Graduates of high school are eligible to apply for the bachelor’s degree programme.
• Applicants for associate degree programmes must meet the appropriate high school or equivalent qualification requirements.

3. Academic Performance

Candidates should have good academic performance.

The GKS academic requirement is any one of the following:

• Overall score of 80% or better on a 100-point scale
• Top 20 per cent of the graduating class
• Achieved an official CGPA equivalent according to the recognised requirements.

4. Age Requirements

• In the case of the 2027 undergraduate programme, the age requirement is as per the official GKS-U requirements.
• The age cut-off is based on the programme year; thus, applicants should confirm their date of birth against the exact 2027 eligibility regulation before applying.

5. Health Requirement

• Applicants must be in satisfactory physical and mental health to complete the entire duration of study in Korea.
• Successful applicants may be required to undergo medical examinations as part of the selection/admission process.

6. Previous Study in Korea

• Applicants should verify for any restrictions on past study or graduation from Korean universities.

Global Korea Undergraduate Scholarship Application Track

1. Embassy Track

For the Embassy Track, applicants apply at the Korean diplomatic mission in their country. For the main online Embassy Track, the 2027 application period will run from 11:00 KST on 15 September 2026 to 18:00 KST on 30 September 2026.

2. University Track

The University Track follows the university calendar, and applications generally take place between September and November 2026.
