About the Fellowship

CURE studies how cultures respond to irreversible harm and loss. Fellows examine reparation through art, ritual, narrative, and scholarship together. Each year adds a new thematic layer atop three core fields. Fellows live in Saarbrücken and join the centre’s collective work.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows on unpaid leave receive a monthly stipend before taxes. Alternatively, CURE pays your home institution for a teaching replacement. Travel to Saarbrücken is reimbursed once under German travel law. A fully equipped workspace and optional housing are also available.

Who Can Apply

Applicants need a completed, defended PhD by the application deadline. Doctorate-holding artists with academic collaboration experience may also apply. Saarland University staff and retirees cannot apply for this fellowship. UniGR fellowship applicants must currently work at a partner university.
