Equality Fund Journalism Fellowship 2027 | Call for Applications

Applications are opening in phases for the Equality Fund Journalism Fellowship. Equality Fund partners with CJFE and African Women in Media on this program. Five journalists from ODA-eligible countries will report on gender-focused solutions.

About the Fellowship

This fellowship surfaces local solutions journalism often overlooked globally. Fellows report from their own communities on gender-focused crises. Monthly sessions feature respected journalists like Nina Lakhani of The Guardian. Safety training comes from IWMF and the Freedom of the Press Foundation.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows receive a $4,000 CAD stipend across the fellowship period. Up to $500 covers direct reporting-related expenses separately. One in-person convening includes fully covered travel costs. Fellows also gain mentorship and story-development guidance throughout.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must be working journalists based in ODA-recipient countries. Women, men, and LGBTQI+ journalists are all welcome to apply. Freelance and full-time journalists across any media platform qualify. Shortlisted candidates need an editorial commitment letter from an outlet.
