POSITION: Project General Manager

The Strategic Scope of This Role

This position demands a seasoned leader who can oversee complete project lifecycles from initial planning through successful execution. Consequently, you will manage financial performance, champion safety culture, and build high performing local teams. Furthermore, you will serve as the critical bridge between Zijin Group headquarters, Ghanaian government agencies, and the mine owner.

Responsibilities

Project Operations and Planning:

• Take overall accountability for full cycle exploration project operations
• Develop comprehensive project plans and drive successful execution
• Coordinate effectively with the mine owner on all operational matters
• Ensure project milestones meet established timelines and quality standards

Financial Control and Budget Management:

• Manage project budgets with rigorous financial discipline
• Monitor expenditures and ensure cost effective resource allocation
• Deliver accurate financial reporting to Zijin Group headquarters
• Optimise project economics while maintaining operational excellence

Health, Safety, and Environmental Leadership:

• Champion site HSE leadership across all project activities
• Ensure full compliance with Ghana’s mining regulations
• Uphold Zijin Group standards in every operational aspect
• Foster a proactive safety culture that protects all personnel

Stakeholder Liaison and Government Relations:

• Liaise effectively with Zijin Group headquarters on strategic matters
• Build productive relationships with government agencies
• Engage with the Minerals Commission on regulatory requirements
• Represent the company professionally across all external engagements

Local Team Development:

• Design comprehensive employee training roadmaps
• Implement development programmes that build local capability
• Recruit and nurture talented Ghanaian professionals
• Create pathways for career advancement within the organisation

Required Qualifications and Experience

Educational Background:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Geology, or a related field

Experience Criteria:

• Minimum fifteen years of mineral exploration experience
• At least five years managing overseas tropical jungle exploration projects
• Proven full cycle exploration management capabilities
• Demonstrated government liaison experience
• Strong HSE leadership track record
• Verifiable local team building achievements

Technical Proficiency:

• Deep understanding of mineral exploration methodologies
