Job Summary

We currently seek a Captain (E190) to join our flight operations team in Accra. This position places you at the helm of our aircraft, where you will bear full responsibility for the safe operation of the aeroplane and the safety of its occupants and cargo during flight. Your leadership will directly influence flight safety, operational efficiency, and passenger confidence.

Responsibilities

• Assume full responsibility for the safe operation of the aeroplane and the safety of its occupants and cargo during flight.
• Exercise authority to give all commands necessary for securing the safety of the aeroplane and persons or property carried therein.
• Ensure compliance with all operational procedures and checklists in accordance with the Company’s Operations Manuals.
• Verify that weather forecasts and reports for the proposed operating area and flight duration permit the flight without infringing company operating minima.
• Take all reasonable steps to ensure the aeroplane and required equipment remain serviceable and that emergency equipment is ready for use.
• Confirm that the aeroplane mass and balance falls within calculated limits for the operating conditions.
• Ensure completion of all pertinent flight records and compliance with checklists.
• Conduct operations in accordance with the rules, laws, and regulations of the jurisdictions where flights operate.
• Maintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct, and appearance as a representative of Africa World Airlines at all times.

Required Qualification and Experience

To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of qualifications, experience, and personal attributes. Specifically, we require:

Qualification and Experience

• Minimum of 5000 hours total flying time including 2000 hours PIC on E190 and at least 3000 hours flying multi crew turbo prop or jet aircraft.
• Valid ICAO ATPL with EMB190 type rating or Valid Ghana ATPL.
• Valid passport.
• Valid and current Medical Certificate (Class One).
• No history of incidents or accidents.
• Must provide a letter from your current or previous employer or CAA.
• Minimum ICAO Level 4 English proficiency.
• No criminal history.
• Non Ghanaians must provide a notarised and authenticated proof of no criminal history document from their home country.

Competence and Skills

• Ability to understand technical detail and apply it effectively.
• Strong aptitude for mathematics and mental calculation.
• Good eye hand coordination to handle the aircraft skilfully.
• Ability to think quickly, make sound decisions, and work calmly under pressure.
• Ability to give clear, confident instructions to crew members and passengers.
• Ability to inspire confidence in both passengers and crew.
• Flexibility in working hours.
• Physically fit with excellent vision, including normal colour vision.
• Self motivation and determination to succeed.
• High degree of discipline and teamwork.
