What the Internship Offers

Selected interns receive a monthly stipend designed to make the internship accessible to candidates from diverse backgrounds. Full-time interns based in Geneva receive 2,660 CHF per month, while part-time interns receive prorated compensation based on their estimated time commitment. CIEL emphasises that stipends do not establish a legal employment relationship but serve to support interns during their placement. Interns gain hands-on experience in international environmental law, contributing to research, advocacy, and global initiatives. Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet specific criteria to qualify for this competitive programme:

• Be enrolled in a graduate programme at a recognised university leading to a degree for the duration of the internship
• Have earned a legal degree such as an LLM or JD, or be actively pursuing one
• Be available for at least 24 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks and a maximum of 24 weeks
• Have taken graduate-level courses or gained comparable job experience providing exposure to international environmental or human rights law
