HP-UCL IOE Fellowship in AI in Education 2026

UCL Institute of Education and HP invite senior education leaders to apply for a global fellowship on AI in education. The program builds the knowledge and governance skills to lead responsible AI change. Applications close on 7 November 2026.

About the Fellowship

Many education leaders must make high-stakes AI decisions without enough evidence. This program helps them look beyond the hype. Fellows learn from experts in AI, learning sciences, policy, and ethics. Faculty work informs AI policy at UNESCO, the OECD, the Council of Europe, and the European Commission. Fellows join weekly live online sessions for three months.

They then attend a residential in London from 5 to 10 April 2027. Next, they complete a nine-month mentored capstone project on a live challenge in their organization. The program takes about half a day per week.

Who Can Apply

The fellowship suits senior leaders who can influence AI decisions in their system. Eligible roles include:

• Senior education policymakers in ministries and agencies
• Regulators and inspectorate leaders
• Senior executives at international edtech companies
• Officials at international organizations
• Regional education directors and school system leaders
• Leaders of education non-profits, foundations, and unions
• Applicants should work in Europe, Asia, or Africa. The program does not suit classroom teachers or individual practitioners.

Required Materials

• A personal statement of up to four pages, covering your background, motivation, and a capstone project outline
• A letter of support from your employer or sponsoring organization
