About the Programme

MSRP promotes graduate education as an attainable goal. Students work with an MIT faculty member and a postdoc or graduate student. They may contribute to publishable research. Weekly faculty talks and professional development seminars add to the experience. The programme ends with a poster symposium.

What Participants Receive

Participants receive a weekly stipend and round-trip travel. MIT also provides housing and a meal subsidy. They gain individual advice on graduate school and research careers. They also receive access to MIT libraries, athletic facilities, and health services. Weekly research talks and social events complete the programme.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must be undergraduates enrolled at a U.S. institution outside MIT. MIT’s FAQ limits eligibility to sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors. Applicants need at least two years of college coursework by the start. Students completing bachelor’s degrees outside the U.S. are not eligible. International students already in the U.S. need valid visa and work authorisation.

Required Materials

Applicants submit a personal statement and describe their research interests and goals. They should explain how MSRP fits their academic plans. Applicants rank their preferred departments. Review MIT’s application page for the full list of documents.
