POSITION: Safety Officer

Your Mission: Protect Staff and Promote Safety

You will take responsibility for the health and safety of all staff in the workplace. Key Responsibilities

Your role spans program development, standards implementation, relationship building, and compliance monitoring. Here is what you will tackle:

Safety Program Development

• You will compile safety programs that address workplace hazards, emergency procedures, and preventive measures.
• Standardizing health and safety practices across the organization ensures consistency and reduces confusion.

Training & Communication

• You will practice safe working techniques yourself, setting an example for all employees.
• Conducting regular staff meetings to share best practice techniques keeps safety top of mind and encourages continuous improvement.
• Establishing a cordial yet professional relationship with employees encourages them to report hazards without fear.

Compliance & Standards

• You will implement and maintain health and safety standards that meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
• Maintaining compliance with all safety regulations protects the organization from fines, legal action, and reputational damage.

Hazard Management

• You will identify hazardous waste and dispose of it correctly, preventing environmental contamination and health risks.
• Promoting safety initiatives such as safety committees, recognition programs, or wellness campaigns builds engagement.

Record Keeping

• You will compile and maintain relevant registers to ensure compliance, tracking incidents, inspections, training, and corrective actions.

What You Bring to the Role

Education

• A Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Skills

• Strong communication skills for training staff, writing reports, and engaging with management.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for documentation and reporting.
