Looking for steady work abroad? Dubai is hiring security guards across hotels, residential communities, shopping centers, offices, and events. Many employers offer visa sponsorship, making this a good opportunity for applicants from across Africa who want to work in the UAE.

What the role looks like

- Patrol assigned areas to keep people and property safe.
- Monitor entrances and screen people and vehicles entering premises.
- Lock up buildings and secure exits at the end of shifts.
- Watch CCTV and report suspicious activity or incidents.
- Perform visual checks and screen for unusual behavior or items.
- Assist customers, residents, or visitors when they need help.
- Detain suspects and coordinate with local authorities until they arrive, following the law.
- Log incidents and submit regular reports on observations and patrols.
- Maintain security equipment and respond quickly to emergencies.

Basic requirements

- Minimum age: 21 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good spoken and written English for clear communication on site.
- Physically fit and able to stand or patrol for long periods.
- Clean criminal record and ability to pass background checks.
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Prior experience in security is preferred.
- Valid SIRA (Security Industry Regulatory Agency) certification, or willingness to obtain it if required by the employer.

Compensation and benefits

- Salary: AED 4,000 per month (as advertised).
- Many employers provide free or subsidized staff accommodation.
- Transport to and from work sites may be provided.
- Health insurance included while on the company’s payroll.
- Paid annual leave and public holidays per UAE labor law.
- End-of-service gratuity paid according to UAE regulations.
- Contracted work with opportunities to renew depending on performance.

Important tips for applicants from Africa

- Confirm that your employer will sponsor your visa before paying any fees.
- Never pay large sums up front to a recruiter; legitimate sponsors typically manage visa costs.
- Keep scanned copies of your passport, CV, and any certificates (SIRA, training, ID) ready for submission.
- Check that the job offer includes a clear contract in English spelling out salary, hours, accommodation, and benefits.
- Ask about the exact location, transportation, and whether food or utilities are included in housing.

How to apply

- Apply online with your CV and a clear photo of your passport.
- If you’re contacted by a recruiter, request the employer’s name and verify the job posting.
