TREE AID Ghana Invites Job Applications

POSITION: Assistant M&E and Field Support Officer

TREE AID Ghana is seeking an Assistant M&E and Field Support Officer to support the Hviron Hive project. If you hold a Master’s degree in Rural Development, Agriculture, Forestry, or a related field, bring at least five years of M&E experience in development projects, and want to work in the dry lands of Northern Ghana, this role offers the perfect opportunity to apply your skills where they matter most.

Why TREE AID?

TREE AID is an international non governmental organization established in 1987, working in the dry lands of Africa to support rural poor communities in unlocking the potential of trees to beat poverty and protect the environment. With headquarters in Bristol, UK, and country offices in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Ethiopia, TREE AID has deep roots in West Africa. In Ghana, we work primarily across the five regions of Northern Ghana, with some scope in Oti and Bono regions. As Assistant M&E and Field Support Officer, you will not simply collect data; you will generate evidence that shapes program improvement, supports advocacy, and demonstrates the difference trees make in rural lives.

Your Mission: Lead Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting

You will support the effective implementation of the Hviron Hive project by leading data collection, analysis, and reporting processes. Your focus will span participatory monitoring systems, staff training, joint field missions, project coordination, and research studies. Your ability to track project activities against planned targets and produce high quality, timely data will inform decision making and showcase our impact.

Key Responsibilities

Your role encompasses M&E system implementation, training, field mission coordination, project management, and research. Here is what you will tackle:

Participatory M&E System Implementation

  • You will implement a participatory monitoring and evaluation system, involving communities and stakeholders in tracking progress.
  • Training technical support staff in monitoring and experience sharing builds local capacity and ensures data quality.

Field Missions & Activity Planning

  • You will organise joint monitoring field missions, bringing together partners, staff, and community members to assess progress.
  • Keeping up to date with activity planning according to Annual Work Plans ensures alignment between monitoring and implementation.

Project Coordination & Management

  • You will support project coordination and management, bridging the gap between M&E data and operational decisions.
  • Your insights will help managers adjust activities when targets drift off course.

Research & Programme Improvement

  • You will carry out necessary research studies to support TREE AID programme improvement and advocacy needs.
  • Generating evidence on what works (and what does not) strengthens our interventions and our voice in policy discussions.

What You Bring to the Role

We are looking for a candidate with the right qualifications, experience, and technical skills. Here is what you need:

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Rural Development, Rural Sociology, Agriculture, Forestry, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage (note: the original text specifies Master’s degree; a Master’s degree as added advantage suggests flexibility).

Experience

  • At least five years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation within development projects.
  • Experience working in rural or dry land contexts, particularly in Northern Ghana, gives you a strong advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Experience designing tools and strategies for data collection, data processing, and analysis.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and producing impact reports or periodic activity reports.
  • Familiarity with participatory M&E approaches that engage communities as partners.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong organizational skills for coordinating field missions and managing multiple data streams.
  • Excellent communication skills for training staff and facilitating experience sharing sessions.
  • Analytical mindset for turning raw data into actionable insights.
  • Commitment to TREE AID’s mission of beating poverty and protecting the environment through trees.

Why This Role Suits You

  • Environmental Impact: You will contribute to projects that use trees to fight poverty and protect dry lands.
  • Field Engagement: You will organise and participate in joint monitoring missions across Northern Ghana.
  • Capacity Building: You will train staff and partners in monitoring techniques, leaving lasting skills behind.
  • Research Opportunities: You will carry out studies that shape programme improvement and advocacy.
