MOSES’ INTERCESSION

Scripture Reading: Exodus 8
 
And Moses said to Pharaoh, “Accept the honour of saying when I shall intercede for you, for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, that they may remain in the river only.” *Exodus 8:9*_
 
After Pharaoh saw that his magicians could not stop the plague of frogs, he asked Moses to ask God to take away the frogs. Moses in turn asked Pharaoh to choose the time for the prayer to be made.
 
Moses gave Pharaoh the honour of naming the time for the frogs to leave his land. Moses did that to demonstrate three important truths to the king of Egypt.

God is the cause of the plague.

Moses wanted to show Pharaoh without any shadow of doubt that the presence of the frogs in Egypt was not a normal occurrence.  By setting the time, Pharaoh would know that the removal of the frogs was not by a coincidenceut by the handwork of God Himself.

Moses has access to God.

 Moses wanted to show Pharaoh that he was a servant of God who had access to God. And that Jehovah was the living God who heard their words and responded to the prayers of His servants.

God is in control of the plague.

Moses wanted to show Pharaoh that God not only caused the plague, but He also controlled how the plague behaved. He could turn it on and turn it off.
 
The same God who was in full control of the plagues of Egypt is the God we worship today. He has not changed. He controls the times and seasons of our lives. He can take curses out of our lives and bring blessings into our lives.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you cause things to be and not to be. Turn the seasons of life to favour me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
