POSITION: Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Your Mission

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans measurement, cost estimation, documentation, site support, valuation, and compliance. Here is what you will tackle:

Quantity Takeoffs & Measurement

• You will measure quantities from architectural and engineering drawings, calculating materials needed for each work package.
• Using standard methods of measurement ensures consistency and accuracy across all estimates.

Cost Estimation & Tendering

• You will assist in preparing cost estimates for construction projects, analyzing labor, materials, equipment, and overheads.
• Supporting the preparation of tender documents and bills of quantities helps secure competitive bids from subcontractors.

Site Support & Progress Valuation

• You will visit construction sites to measure work completed, assisting senior surveyors in preparing interim valuations.
• Recording actual material usage against estimates identifies variances and improves future predictions.

Subcontractor & Supplier Liaison

• You will assist in verifying subcontractor payment applications, ensuring work completed matches claimed amounts.
• Supporting procurement activities by measuring material requirements and tracking deliveries keeps projects on schedule.

Documentation & Compliance

• You will maintain accurate records of measurements, estimates, valuations, and variations.
• Ensuring all quantity surveying documentation aligns with contract terms and company policies protects against disputes.

What You Bring to the Role

We are looking for a candidate with the right education, experience, and personal attributes. Here is what you need:

Education

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• One to five years of experience in quantity surveying or civil engineering. Fresh graduates with strong internships are welcome to apply.

Technical Skills

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Then, Familiarity with standard methods of measurement.
• Also, Basic proficiency in MS Excel for preparing measurement sheets and cost summaries.
• Moreover, Knowledge of quantity surveying software is an advantage but not required.
