POSITION: Microfinance Officer 

South Akim Community Bank is seeking a Microfinance Officer to join our team. If you hold an HND, Bachelor’s degree, or a professional qualification such as ACCA, CA, ACIB, or CIMA, bring at least two years of microfinance experience, and can ride a motorbike with a valid license, this role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of community members.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for prospecting, forming, and training microfinance groups. Your role also includes appraising loans, undertaking daily loan recovery exercises, supervising Mobile Bankers (also known as Susu Collectors), reconciling passbooks, and conducting customer visits for loan recovery. Your ability to ride a motorbike will enable you to reach customers in remote areas efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans group formation, loan appraisal, recovery, supervision, and reconciliation. Here is what you will tackle:

Prospecting & Group Formation

• You will prospect for new loan customers, identifying individuals and groups who need financial services.
• Forming and training groups prepares them to manage loans responsibly and build credit histories.

Loan Appraisal & Recovery

• You will appraise loan applications, evaluating each customer’s ability to repay before approving funds.
• Undertaking daily loan recovery exercises keeps portfolios healthy and ensures funds recycle to new borrowers.

Supervision & Reconciliation

• You will supervise Mobile Bankers (Susu Collectors), ensuring they follow procedures and serve customers properly.
• Reconciling passbooks protects customers and the bank from discrepancies.
• Conducting customer visitation for loan recovery builds relationships while addressing overdue accounts.

Qualifications & Experience

• A minimum of an HND, Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent professional qualification (Part II or above) such as ACCA, CA, ACIB, or CIMA.
• A minimum of two years of experience in microfinance activities, demonstrating your understanding of group lending and recovery.
• Relative experience in any banking operations role gives you an added advantage.

Technical Skills

• You must be computer literate with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel for tracking loans and recovery.
• Knowledge of T24 banking software gives you an added advantage.

Licensing & Mobility

• You must be able to ride a motorbike and possess a valid motor riding license. This enables you to reach customers in rural and hard to access areas.

Age Requirement

• You must be between 25 and 30 years of age at the time of application.
