Study in Singapore | SUTD Design and Engineering Scholarship 2026
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is inviting applications for its Design and Engineering Scholarship for the 2026 intake. This prestigious award offers comprehensive financial support to outstanding Asian students (excluding Singapore citizens) to study world‑class bachelor’s programmes in engineering, design and artificial intelligence.
Why This Scholarship Matters
This scholarship is a full investment in the next generation of innovators. With most costs covered, successful students can immerse themselves in a multidisciplinary education that blends creative design thinking with engineering rigour. SUTD’s learning environment is built for collaboration and problem‑solving, preparing graduates to tackle complex global challenges.
What the Scholarship Covers
- Tuition subsidy after the government Tuition Grant, effectively covering tuition for the standard four‑year degree.
- Annual living allowance of S$6,000 to support personal expenses.
- Accommodation support equivalent to the lowest on‑campus double room rate.
- One‑time settling‑in allowance of S$200 and a computer allowance of S$1,750 on matriculation.
- Travel support: a one‑way air ticket to Singapore at the start of studies and a return ticket home on graduation.
Who Is Eligible
General eligibility requirements include:
- Singapore Permanent Residents and international students from Asian countries or regions (Singapore citizens are not eligible under this scheme).
- Application to a full‑time, MOE‑subsidised undergraduate degree at SUTD leading to a first bachelor’s degree.
- Strong academic results (for example Singapore Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Levels, IB Diploma, recognised Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent Year‑12 qualifications).
- Evidence of co‑curricular involvement and leadership potential.
Application Process
The scholarship is considered as part of the regular admission process:
1. Apply for admission to an eligible SUTD undergraduate programme for the 2026 intake.
2. Indicate interest in the Design and Engineering Scholarship as part of your application.
3. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further assessment; final selections are made on merit.
A Note for African and Asian Applicants
For applicants across Africa and Asia, this is an excellent chance if you meet the regional eligibility. If you are not eligible (for example, non‑Asian nationals), consider these steps:
- Explore other scholarships and funding options at SUTD and other Singaporean universities.
- Contact the SUTD International Office to confirm eligibility and ask about alternative support schemes.
- Look for regional or home‑country scholarships, Commonwealth schemes, or merit awards from other institutions.
Preparing a Strong Application
Focus on clear academic records, strong references, evidence of leadership and project work, and a concise statement that explains your interest in design and technology. Highlight any practical projects, competitions or initiatives that demonstrate your potential to contribute to SUTD’s collaborative community.
Good luck — if you’d like, I can help you draft or review your application statement.
