POSITION: Communication Strategist

Palladium is seeking a for a short term assignment supporting Prosperity Health Ventures under the Jobs and Economic Transformation (JET) Programme in Ghana. If you hold an advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Advertising, or IT with two years of practice, or a first degree with ten years of experience, this role offers the opportunity to develop a strategic communications blueprint that will help onboard hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies onto a transformative health tech platform.

The Opportunity: Support a Growing Health Tech Platform

Prosperity Health Ventures (PHV) aims to create efficient healthcare marketplaces that improve access to healthcare and patient satisfaction across sub-Saharan Africa. Their technology app connects patients and healthcare providers through a SaaS platform. The pilot program launched in Accra in November 2021, signing 14 clinics with 8 live on the platform. PHV now aims to onboard 240 clinics while extending the app to include a digital pharmacy. This growth will create direct and indirect jobs including business development roles, customer success positions, pharmacists, medical staff, and delivery drivers. Your communication strategy will help PHV reach potential clients quickly and cost effectively.

Your Mission

You will develop a strategic communications approach that helps PHV onboard more hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies onto their platform. Your work will provide a blueprint for growth, enabling PHV to compete favourably and expand systematically. Specifically, you will identify potential clients using defined criteria, find communication channels to reach them, provide cost outlays for each channel, and propose deployment pathways for rapid outreach.

Key Deliverables

Your assignment will produce five core deliverables within 30 days:

• A tiered client list: Provide a list of potential hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, maternity homes, health centres, and CHIPS compounds, ranked in three tiers of importance with clear justifications for each ranking.
• Communication channels and costs: Deliver a comprehensive list of communication channels, their associated cost outlays, and your recommended preferred channels based on effectiveness and efficiency.
• Deployment pathway: Map out a clear path for deploying the selected communication tools, showing step by step how PHV can implement your recommendations.
• Strategic communications document: Produce a complete communication strategy document tailored specifically to PHV’s business model and growth targets.
• Risk and mitigation plan: Identify potential risks in the outreach and onboarding process, then provide practical mitigation plans for each risk.

Scope of Work

You will identify potential clients across the healthcare ecosystem including hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, maternity homes, health centres, and CHIPS compounds. Next, you will identify all viable channels for reaching these clients along with the associated costs. You will then determine multiple means to reach potential clients efficiently. Finally, you will document risks and develop mitigation plans that keep the onboarding process on track.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications & Experience

• An advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Advertising, or IT with at least two years of practical experience; OR
• A first degree in any of these fields with ten or more years of professional practice.

Technical Competencies

• Strong strategic thinking and communication planning skills.
• Experience identifying target audiences and selecting appropriate outreach channels.
• Ability to estimate and compare cost outlays across different communication methods.
• Risk assessment and mitigation planning expertise.
