POSITION: Assistant Registrar

As Assistant Registrar, you will not simply handle paperwork; you will assist the Registrar across administrative, secretarial, and human resource management functions, directly supporting the university’s mission.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for assisting the Registrar in all administrative matters, ensuring smooth office operations. Your role includes providing secretarial support, managing human resource development and management matters, and coordinating with other university departments. Your ability to work under pressure will be tested during peak periods such as admissions, examinations, and staff performance reviews.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans administrative support, secretarial duties, human resource management, and stakeholder coordination. Here is what you will tackle:

Administrative Support

  • You will assist the Registrar in all administrative matters, including policy implementation and procedural compliance.
  • Preparing agendas, minutes, and reports for various university committees.

Secretarial Duties

  • You will provide secretarial support to the Registrar, managing correspondence, filing, and record keeping.
  • Drafting official letters, memos, and circulars for internal and external distribution.

Human Resource Management

  • You will assist in human resource development and management matters, including recruitment, staff welfare, and performance management.
  • Supporting the implementation of training and development programmes for university staff.

Coordination

  • You will coordinate with other university departments to ensure seamless administrative operations.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and partner institutions.

What You Bring to the Role

Requirements

  • A master’s degree, preferably in Administration or Management related area.
  • A minimum of two years of post qualification experience as a Junior Assistant Registrar in a university or comparable grade in a similar institution.
  • A minimum of four years of total working experience.
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
