What You Will Own in the Field

You will support Field Trainers while implementing SMS programme activities across designated districts. Moreover, you will supervise specialized farmer programs including Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) and additional livelihood initiatives.

Your core responsibilities include:

Developing district annual work plans that align with programme goals and timelines
Directly supervising all farmer specialized programs such as VSLA and additional livelihood activities
Owning certification processes for annual audits within your district
Coordinating all training activities for producers from planning through execution
Managing a team of Field Trainers and assisting with their ongoing assessments
Undertaking any other activities that fall within the Field Officer scope of work

Partnership Duties You Will Handle

You will not work alone. Strong collaboration with local authorities and research institutions is essential.

Supporting Farm Supervisors on their core daily responsibilities
Working closely with district Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) technical officers and regional research institutions
Maintaining good relationships with district Franchise Holders and other key stakeholders

Administrative Responsibilities

Field work requires disciplined record keeping. You cannot improve what you do not track.

Preparing weekly reports that document activities, challenges, and outcomes
Taking responsibility for company assets assigned to you including care and security

What You Bring to the Field

Education matters. However, your language skills and local knowledge will set you apart.

Required qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Business, Economics, Development, or a closely related field
Certificate in Agriculture also accepted
Fluency in both English and local languages spoken in the cocoa regions

Cocoa farmers face real challenges including low yields, limited access to savings groups, and gaps in technical training. For this reason, ECOM needs Field Officers who can speak local languages, train farmers effectively, and maintain strong relationships with MoFA officers and franchise holders. Your weekly reports will inform decisions. Also, your supervision of VSLA programs will help families save and invest. Your audit preparation will keep certifications valid.
