POSITION: Credit Officers

Fruit Micro Credit is a fast-growing financial institution dedicated to empowering micro and small businesses. We believe in financial inclusion backed by strong discipline and professional standards. Consequently, we are looking for a results-driven Credit Officer to strengthen our operations in Accra and Kasoa.

This is not a passive banking role. You will be in the field, identifying clients, conducting assessments, and enforcing repayment discipline. Moreover, you will chase delinquent accounts and demand repayment. You will keep Portfolio at Risk below 5% through relentless effort and smart strategies. If you have at least one year of microfinance credit experience and the negotiation skills to recover loans, we want to hear from you.

Your Responsibilities

As Credit Officer, you will own the entire credit cycle for your clients. You will identify and recruit qualified micro and small business clients. Also, you will conduct thorough assessments and field investigations. You will mobilize, disburse, and strictly recover loans. Your success will be measured by your ability to control delinquency and keep PAR below 5%. You will submit accurate reports daily, weekly, and monthly. You will also deliver financial education and promote digital repayment solutions to reduce default risk.

Your core responsibilities will include:

Client Acquisition & Assessment

• Identify and Recruit Clients: You will actively seek out qualified micro and small business clients in line with company policy. You will build a pipeline of reliable borrowers.
• Conduct Thorough Assessments: You will perform detailed client evaluations, loan appraisals, and field investigations. You will verify information and assess creditworthiness accurately.
• Mobilize and Disburse Loans: You will ensure timely disbursement of approved loans. You will explain terms clearly to clients.

Loan Recovery & Portfolio Management

• Enforce Strict Repayment Discipline: You will ensure clients understand their repayment obligations from day one. You will follow up consistently to keep accounts current.
• Maintain PAR Below 5%: You will monitor your portfolio relentlessly. You will take action at the first sign of delinquency to keep risk under control.
• Chase Delinquent and Default Clients: You will pursue overdue clients aggressively but professionally. You will follow recovery procedures and demand repayment persistently.
• Use Negotiation Skills: You will negotiate payment plans and settlements effectively. You will balance firmness with understanding.

Reporting & Financial Education

• Submit Accurate Reports: You will prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on disbursement, arrears, and recovery status. Your data will inform management decisions.
• Deliver Financial Education: You will educate clients on financial management and the importance of timely repayment. You will empower them to succeed.
• Finally, Promote Digital Repayment Solutions: You will encourage clients to use digital channels for repayments. You will reduce cash handling risks and improve convenience.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a disciplined, tenacious, and analytical credit professional. You have proven experience in microfinance credit operations with a strong emphasis on loan recovery. You understand that portfolio quality is everything.

To excel in this role, you will need:

Qualifications & Experience

• A Diploma or Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 1 year of proven experience in microfinance credit operations. Your experience must demonstrate a strong focus on loan recovery.
• Demonstrated ability to control delinquency and maintain high portfolio quality. You have the numbers to prove it.

Core Skills & Attributes

• Strong analytical skills to assess client creditworthiness accurately.
• Excellent negotiation skills to recover loans effectively.
• Proven field collection skills. You are comfortable working outside the office and engaging clients directly.
• The ability to work under pressure and consistently deliver on recovery targets.
• Riding or driving experience is a significant added advantage. Mobility is key in this role.
• High level of integrity and professionalism.
• Self-discipline and the ability to work independently.
