About Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen within a dementia-friendly residential care home environment. The role focuses on assisting with food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring residents receive high-quality meals tailored to their dietary needs.

New Bradley Hall provides residential care in a purpose-built, homely setting designed to promote dignity, independence, and well-being. This is a casual role, offering flexible hours based on operational requirements. The position is subject to an enhanced DBS check as part of pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals to specification
  • Present food in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Receive and check stock deliveries for quality and quantity
  • Maintain accurate food hygiene records
  • Support the Cook and deputise when required
  • Ensure high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene
  • Operate catering equipment safely and correctly
  • Follow health and safety and food hygiene regulations

Requirements

  • Experience in large-scale catering or food service environments
  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals and dietary requirements
  • Basic Food Hygiene certificate
  • NVQ Level 2 (City & Guilds) in Professional Cookery, or willingness to work towards
  • Knowledge of food hygiene standards
  • Understanding of health and safety in food preparation
  • Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check
  • Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
